About the event
N'Goni Harp Guided Meditations for a Mind Centering Experience
A traditional West African (Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali) string instrument, the Kamele N'Goni Harp is made from a gourd with 8-14 strings. The unique look of these harps always provokes curiosity and interest. In turn, these instruments become a focal point for spontaneous conversations. The N'Goni Harp can produce fast, harmonious melodies in a pentatonic scale with an angelic sound quality that is "sound medicine" for calming the mind and the soul.
In the meditative technique Eugenia Ortiz offers, she uses the N'Goni harp, musical crystal bowls, and other vibrational sound instruments. The effect of this meditation is reported by participants as relaxing and centering.
The Kamele N'Gonis used in these meditations were carefully handcrafted by professional instrument maker and musician, Amado Espinoza.
